Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Arrival Procedures

Outdoor Arrival Procedure:

  • Annex – PreK – Parents enter and exit through the main entrance
  • Annex – K – Line up in the 43rd Street yard
  • 1st grade – Lower yard by 40th Street gate
  • 2nd grade – Lower yard by 41st Street gate
  • 3rd grade – Gates closest to the apartment buildings
  • 4th grade – Gates closest to the school building
  • 5th & 6th grade – Upper yard: 5th Wall facing auditorium and 6th grade by cafeteria ramp

Inclement Weather Arrival Procedure:

  • Annex – PreK – Parents enter and exit through the main entrance
  • Annex – K – students enter through the 43rd Street doors and go out through the multi-purpose area.
  • 1st & 6th grade – Cafeteria: Enter through the upper yard cafeteria ramp and exit through the side door (Exit 13)
  • 2nd grade – Enter main entrance and stay in blue area (main entrance)
  • 3rd, 4th & 5th grade – Auditorium – Enter through yard into auditorium and exit through the 41st Street exit

Any student arriving prior to this time may stay outside with parent supervision only. If you are unable to supervise, your child is permitted to come into building and wait in the cafeteria until 7:50 AM. Prior to 7:50 AM, the student must enter the building through the main entrance.

For safety reasons, we ask all parents to please stay away from congregating in the middle of the yard.

Dismissal Procedures

Outdoor Dismissal Procedure:

  • Annex – PreK – Parents enter and exit through the main entrance
  • Annex – K students will line up in the 43rd Street yard
  • 1st grade – Cafeteria: Enter through the upper yard cafeteria ramp
  • 2nd grade will line up by the gates on 41st Street
  • 3rd grade will line up by the gates on 4oth Street
  • 4th grade will be dismissed by the small gate, nearest the auditorium on 41st Street
  • 5th and 6th grade – Exit by gazebo

Please wait outside the gates until the classes are lined up and ready to be dismissed. Once allowed to do so, you can go and collect your child. Please make sure that your child(ren)’s teacher knows that you have collected your child.

4th graders will be dismissed to a parent/guardian as soon as they get to the gate. Please wait outside on the street and do not enter the gate.

Please note: all left over students will be taken to the auditorium.

Inclement Weather Dismissal Procedure

(inclement dismissal will be implemented during stormy weather only):

  • Annex – PreK – Parents enter and exit through the main entrance
  • Annex – K students will line up in the multipurpose area
  • 1st grade – Cafeteria: Enter through the upper yard cafeteria ramp and exit through the side door (Exit 13)
  • 2nd grade – Enter main entrance and exit through gazebo exit
  • 3rd & 4th – Auditorium – Enter through yard into auditorium and exit through the 41st Street exit
  • 5th and 6th grade – Exit by gazebo

Please note:  The main entrance should only be used by second grade parents during indoor inclement weather.

Afterschool Programs:

During inclement weather, ALL afterschool programs will wait until they receive notification from an administrator prior to going to their assigned locations.  We want to make sure that all parent traffic is over.

Please be considerate. Watch for small children, keep traffic flowing and don’t block the gate.Please do not conference with your child(ren)’s teachers during dismissal time. We do not want teachers to be distracted or confidentiality to be breached.

The safety of all our students is our first priority. These new procedures, together with your cooperation will ensure that ALL students are dismissed safely.

 

Sneak Peek

PS150Q will be hosting a Sneak Peek (Meet and Greet) on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 3 pm in the Main Building for both NEW and EXISTING parents (children are welcome!). Get a Sneak Peek of the upcoming activities of the 2018-2019 school year and meet and mingle with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), school administrators, parent coordinator and other parents. Light refreshments will be served.
