We need volunteers!

This is a fun 3 day event which allows the children to shop independently
for their moms and grandmas.

We need Volunteers from 9:00 am – 1:30 pm to sell specially chosen mothers’ day items to our wonderful students who will be shopping for their moms and grandmas, and to help the younger shoppers pick out something special based on their budget.

PTA MEETING MAY 16, 2018

Please join us at the next PTA meeting

Wednesday May 16, 2018
6:15pm
Main Building, Blue Area

This is a VERY important meeting as we will be voting for next year’s  PTA board. Help shape the future of our school. Help direct our childrens’ futures!

Many of the positions will be open. We need you to step up and nominate yourselves or other (willing) parents to serve on the board. Don’t wait for someone else to get the job done.

Why would you consider becoming involved in PTA during the 2018-2019 school year? Because you want PS150Q to continue to be one of the best schools in New York City. You want your child to have an enriching school year – to learn AND have fun. You want to help decide how the PTA raises funds and how the budget is spent.

You want all the students at PS150Q to be successful. Come and be the IMPACT!

** VERY IMPORTANT: If no one steps up and we do NOT elect a board, the PTA WILL CEASE TO EXIST. That means we will NOT be in compliance with New York City DoE Regulations as every NYC public school MUST have a PTA.

2018.05.16 AGENDA

Lost and Found

Please come by the Lost and Found (Blue Area in the Main Building) to come pick up items that may have been left behind. With the weather changing (cold in the mornings, “too-hot-to-wear-anything-other-than-a-tshirt” in the afternoons), kids are bound to leave jackets and sweaters behind.

Thank you to Monica for maintaining the Lost and Found!

Career Day

We’re still looking for people to come speak to our students for Career Day. Whether you’re a doctor, a policeman or firefighter, an engineer, an architect, a teacher,… please consider coming in to inspire our students by sharing your career. If you can’t make it, pass this on to someone you think can come in. They don’t need to be a parent at the school.

Q&A

Won’t it take a lot of time?

Yes, we confess, it is a time commitment, but usually only a matter of hours per month.

  • Some work can be done at home on your own schedule.
  • There are one or two PTA board meetings per month.
  • It helps to be comfortable with email so everyone can communicate with each other no matter what their schedules are.
  • It also can help if you have a flexible daytime schedule but it’s not required.

Don’t I need to have a lot of skills or experience?

All you need is an interest in your child’s school and a willingness to learn and be involved.

  • It helps if you use email regularly and are reasonably comfortable with a computer.
  • Former board members and volunteers will be able to offer advice.
  • Bilingual volunteers are needed!

What’s in it for me?

Here’s your big chance to get involved with your child’s school and make a difference.

  • Make friends and new connections.
  • Learn new skills.
  • Have a greater understanding of school and PTA issues.

If you don’t want to join the board, consider taking on a leadership role for an event (like the Movie Night or Read-A-Thon or Carnival). We need you!
